ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
Welcome to Brighton College (Singapore)’s English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme. At Brighton College (Singapore), our EAL programme is more than just language instruction – it’s a journey of growth and discovery. We create a warm, inclusive environment where every child, regardless of their English level, can flourish and find their voice.
Our team is dedicated to supporting each pupil’s unique needs, whether through our intensive Preparatory Course for Primary or integrated classroom assistance. We focus on building both language skills and self-confidence, ensuring your child succeeds both academically and socially.
At Brighton College (Singapore), we believe mastering English opens doors to endless global opportunities. We aim not only to develop language proficiency but also to foster cultural understanding, helping your child feel at home in our diverse community.
Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Ian Smith
Head of EAL
At Brighton College (Singapore), we believe that a strong academic foundation, underpinned by proficiency in the English Language, sets the stage for future success and opens doors to global opportunities. Through our immersive and tailored approach to language acquisition, we help pupils build confidence, foster curiosity, and quickly attain English proficiency.
If your child requires additional language support, they will undergo an assessment during the admissions process to determine their current level of English. The results from an English language screener will guide appropriate placement.
Pupils learn at different speeds, and have different needs – a fully customised approach enables pupils to obtain support and instruction in areas that are most helpful to them.
Pupils benefit from tailored support designed to meet their daily learning needs. This includes in-class assistance and dedicated sessions outside the classroom, ensuring each child has the opportunity to thrive and make the most of their educational journey.
A supportive home room environment, with opportunities for pupils to practise, learn, and interact with peers, it is the most ideal environment for a budding language learner to build confidence and improve proficiency in the language.
The Preparatory Course for Primary School (PCP) Year 1 to Year 6 introduces beginner EAL pupils to Brighton College’s pupil life and curriculum.
The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College (Singapore) is to join us at an Open House, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place, and to answer any questions you have about life here.
