It is our firm belief at Brighton College (Singapore) that co-curricular activities form an integral part of a child’s education and development, and our pupils are encouraged to participate in as many CCAs as possible from Monday to Thursday. We hope that with the wide range of CCAs available, pupils can find something that appeals to them. Our programme is run by school teachers along with external providers to create a preference-based co-curricular programme that provides opportunities to develop and support a pupil’s interest.
In Pre-Prep, the College provides a range of activities for children starting as young as Reception-age. In Reception and Year 1, pupils develop their motor skills, critical thinking, imagination and increase their personal confidence. Examples of clubs that we have offered are: story club, junk modelling, Lego, choir, finger gym, construction club, garden yoga, play dough, Chinese club, music and movement, multi-sport, swimming and basketball.
In Prep school, the CCA programme aims to continue to reflect pupils’ interests and provides experiences about which children in Year 2 to 6 are enthusiastic. CCAs on offer include: karate, football, tennis, arts and crafts, digital creators club, STEAM, public speaking, choir, ballet, archery, in-line skating, cricket, Acro hip-hop, touch-typing, netball, and chess.
The types of CCA might change from term to term, however, we always consider the needs of our pupils and teachers, and we endeavour to develop as exciting, meaningful and broad a programme as possible.
