SPORT FOR ALL
Children in the Prep School continue to focus and develop their physical literacy, but there is an emphasis on specific games such as basketball, cricket, football, hockey, tennis, netball and much more. During games, children learn to apply the basic attacking and defending principles.
Children also focus on problem-solving, communication and tactics as they examine what makes an effective team. From Year 3, pupils can take part in both friendly and competitive local fixtures through organisations such as ACSIS (Athletics Conference of Singapore International Schools).
Children learn to swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres using a range of strokes. They practice safe self-rescue techniques in various water-based scenarios and participate in water polo activities and swimming galas.
Starting from Year 3, pupils join the ACSIS Football Team, with a competitive environment intensifying from U8 to U10 (Year 5). Our U10 Football team won a gold medal in ACSIS, with more successes on the horizon.
Netball is an integral part of Brighton College (Singapore), with competitive games starting in Year 3 (U9). In Prep School, netball is mixed gender until Year 6 (U11). Pupils build skills and experience in friendly matches, progressing to more competitive levels as they advance beyond into Senior school.
Prep school pupils enjoy cricket during CCAs. We have indoor cricket for our younger primary pupils, while the older pupils get the chance to play at a higher standard in the nets during CCAs. Our programme recently extended to U11.
The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College (Singapore) is to join us at an Open House, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place, and to answer any questions you have about life here.
